Flood Warning issued June 23 at 9:10AM CDT until June 23 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Nebraska... Platte River Near Leshara affecting Saunders and Douglas Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Platte River near Leshara. * WHEN...Until this evening. * IMPACTS...At 7.5 feet, The river is at bankfull and water will begin to overtop the natural river banks. At 8.5 feet, Significant lowland flooding is occurring as the river is out of its banks. In addition the Papio NRD access site at Highway 64 is flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 8.1 feet...or 0.1 feet above flood stage. - Bankfull stage is 7.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the last 24 hours was 8.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage this afternoon and continue falling to 4.8 feet Friday morning. - Flood stage is 8.0 feet. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Additional information is available at water.noaa.gov.

Heat Advisory issued June 23 at 10:32AM CDT until June 25 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE * WHAT...Heat index values ranging from 100 to 110 are expected. * WHERE...Portions of southwest and west central Iowa and east central, northeast, and southeast Nebraska. * WHEN...From 1 PM Monday to 7 AM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
