Northeastern Washington County in northeastern Colorado... * Until 615 PM MDT. * At 522 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 6 miles southeast of Atwood, or 10 miles south of Sterling, moving south at 20 mph. HAZARD...Tennis ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Trained spotters reported. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Merino, Prewitt Reservoir, Burdett, Midway, Fremont Butte and Messex. Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm has produced dangerous hail and is capable of producing damaging winds. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure.
