Special Weather Statement issued July 3 at 11:02PM EDT by NWS Albany NY At 1102 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Sandisfield, or 8 miles east of Great Barrington, moving southeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Otis, Sandisfield, Monterey, Otis Wood Lanes, Hartsville, New Boston, Algerie Four Corners, Montville, Roosterville, Hephzibah Heights, West New Boston, East Otis, Cold Spring, and West Otis. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
