Arkansas River at Oxford affecting Sumner County. ...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in Kansas... Arkansas River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Arkansas River at Arkansas City. * WHEN...From this afternoon to Wednesday evening. * IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, The Water Plant takes precautions on water well pump houses west of the Arkansas River. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 8.7 feet and rising. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon to a crest of 17.4 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage Wednesday morning. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. Flood Warning issued June 21 at 9:59AM CDT until June 21 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Street flooding, county road flooding, and small stream flooding caused by last night's heavy rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following counties, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Until 900 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 959 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicate between 3 and 6 inches of rain occurred last night across the warned area. This is causing flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, city streets, and other low-lying and flood- prone locations. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... Derby, Arkansas City, Winfield, Haysville, Wellington, Mulvane, Rose Hill, Kingman, Clearwater, Cheney, Douglass, Belle Plaine, Harper, Conway Springs, Oxford, Garden Plain, Udall, Pretty Prairie and Burden. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.
