Arkansas River at Oxford affecting Sumner County. ...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in Kansas... Arkansas River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Arkansas River at Oxford. * WHEN...From this afternoon to Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Low lying agricultural fields flood north of the river gage site. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:45 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 12.9 feet and rising. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon to a crest of 19.8 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage Tuesday morning. - Flood stage is 17.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Slate Creek at Wellington. * WHEN...Until early Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 23.5 feet, Expect extensive cropland and field flooding along the creek. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 23.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 24.3 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 19.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. This is causing flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, city streets, and other low-lying and flood- prone locations. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... Derby, Arkansas City, Winfield, Haysville, Wellington, Mulvane, Rose Hill, Kingman, Clearwater, Cheney, Douglass, Belle Plaine, Harper, Conway Springs, Oxford, Garden Plain, Udall, Pretty Prairie and Burden. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.
