Heat Advisory issued July 19 at 11:45AM EDT until July 19 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC * WHAT...Heat index values up to 108. * WHERE...The Triangle, southern Piedmont, Sandhills, northeast Piedmont, and Coastal Plain of central North Carolina. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. If you do not have air conditioning in your home or lack shelter, you can call 211 for assistance locating appropriate shelter from the heat.

Special Weather Statement issued July 19 at 3:19PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC At 319 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Clayton, or 10 miles southeast of Raleigh, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Raleigh, Garner, Clayton, Zebulon, Knightdale, Selma, Wendell, Emit, Flowers, and Lake Benson. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 292 and 310. Interstate 440 near Mile Marker 1, and between Mile Markers 12 and 16. Interstate 540 between Mile Markers 20 and 24. NC Highway 264 between Mile Markers 20 and 22. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for central North Carolina.
