Flood Watch issued September 27 at 2:48AM EDT until September 29 at 2:00AM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Massachusetts, including the following areas, Barnstable MA, Central Middlesex MA, Dukes MA, Eastern Essex MA, Eastern Norfolk MA, Eastern Plymouth MA, Nantucket MA, Northern Bristol MA, Northern Middlesex MA, Northern Worcester MA, Southeast Middlesex MA, Southern Bristol MA, Southern Plymouth MA, Southern Worcester MA, Suffolk MA, Western Essex MA, Western Norfolk MA and Western Plymouth MA and Rhode Island, including the following areas, Block Island RI, Bristol RI, Eastern Kent RI, Newport RI, Northwest Providence RI, Southeast Providence RI, Washington RI and Western Kent RI. * WHEN...Through late Monday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Periods of rain will continue across the region right through Monday. Storm total rainfall amount of 2-4" are expected, but localized 5-7" amounts are possible. If these higher amounts are realized...the potential for both urban and small river/stream flooding would increase. High Surf Advisory issued September 27 at 2:27PM EDT until September 27 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA * WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to one half foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (3.3 to 12.5 feet Mean Lower Low Water). For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 6 to 10 feet in the surf zone. * WHERE...Eastern Essex MA, Suffolk MA, Eastern Norfolk MA, Eastern Plymouth MA, Barnstable MA, Dukes MA and Nantucket MA Counties. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until midnight EDT Monday night. For the High Surf Advisory, until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Roads remain passable. Low lying areas and roads near Nantucket Harbor, including Easy Street, may experience pockets of shallow flooding less than one foot deep. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
