Flood Advisory issued June 24 at 7:51PM CDT until June 24 at 11:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southern Cook County in northeast Illinois and northern Lake County in northwest Indiana. * WHEN...Until 1100 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 749 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms with rain rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Roadway flooding may begin shortly after the onset of heavy rainfall. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Chicago, Hammond, Gary, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Calumet City, Portage, Merrillville, Chicago Heights, East Chicago, Schererville, Hobart, Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey, Homer Glen, Highland, Blue Island, Munster and Dolton. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring.
