Flood Watch issued September 15 at 11:07AM MDT until September 17 at 6:00AM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of central and west central New Mexico, including the following areas, in central New Mexico, South Central Mountains. In west central New Mexico, West Central Highlands, West Central Mountains and West Central Plateau. * WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon through late Wednesday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Deep monsoon moisture will continue to move into western and central New Mexico, helping numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop. Stronger storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour with some areas receiving multiple rounds of storms. This will be too fast and heavy for the ground to adequately absorb, leading to excessive runoff and flash flooding. Recent wildfire burn scars within Lincoln county will be especially vulnerable to flash flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/abq/EmergencyPrepFlood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
