Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Special Weather Statement issued July 10 at 5:56PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC At 555 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Barley to 8 miles northeast of Bunn to near Mccoll. Movement was east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Raleigh, Fayetteville, Cary, Rocky Mount, Goldsboro, Sanford, Laurinburg, Roanoke Rapids, Henderson, and Southern Pines. This includes the following highways... Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 173 and 41. Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 285 and 358. Interstate 440 between Mile Markers 1 and 16. Interstate 540 between Mile Markers 5 and 24. US 1 between Mile Markers 85 and 101. NC Highway 264 between Mile Markers 20 and 56. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
