The road to the sanitary landfill area is closed. At 14.0 feet, Sandbagging operations occur for businesses along US 18 on the west side of town in and near the flood plain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:15 PM CDT Friday the stage was 10.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this evening and continue rising to a crest of 14.1 feet Monday evening. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Flood Watch issued June 21 at 6:49PM CDT until June 22 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA A moderate risk of heavy rainfall and flash flooding is forecast over northern Iowa through the overnight. Storms will be increasing in coverage this evening, with the heaviest rainfall expected later this evening to early Saturday morning. Some uncertainty remains as to the exact axis of heaviest rainfall, but current indications are that the heaviest rainfall in north central Iowa will be generally between Highway 20 and the Iowa Minnesota border. If you live in or near the watch, please monitor the weather closely this evening and tonight. Review flooding safety plans now and be prepared if you must take action. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northeast, northwest, and west central Iowa, including the following counties, in central Iowa, Grundy, Hamilton, Hardin and Webster.
