Missouri River At Rulo affecting Richardson and Holt Counties. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Missouri River at Brownville. * WHEN...From this afternoon to Wednesday, July 03. * IMPACTS...At 43.0 feet, A portion of the federal levee along the Missouri side will be near overtopping. If overtopped this flooding will impact a significant portion of Interstate 29 and Highway 136. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:15 AM CDT Monday the stage was 33.6 feet...or 0.4 feet below flood stage. - Bankfull stage is 33.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this afternoon to a crest of 42.5 feet Friday evening. It will then fall below flood stage Tuesday, July 02. - Flood stage is 34.0 feet. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. For the second Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 105 expected. * WHERE...In Iowa, Fremont and Page Counties. In Nebraska, Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee, and Richardson Counties. * WHEN...For the first Heat Advisory, from 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT this evening. For the second Heat Advisory, from 1 PM to 7 PM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
