Locations: Bay St. George and Corner Brook and vicinity. Potential rainfall rates: locally 20 to 30 mm per hour in thunderstorms. Time span: this evening. Remarks: An intense thunderstorm has developed just northeast of the Port au Port Peninsula. This storm is tracking eastward at about 50 km/h and has the potential to be severe with heavy rainfall rates. ### Driving conditions may be difficult. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
