In western West Virginia, Wayne. * WHEN...Through Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow moving heavy showers and thunderstorms will periodically move through the area this evening, Tuesday, and Tuesday night. Special Weather Statement issued September 21 at 4:13PM EDT by NWS Charleston WV At 413 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Beckley, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Beckley, Mabscott, Sophia, Crab Orchard, Dry Creek, Macarthur, Bradley, Shady Spring, Prosperity, Beaver, Daniels, Piney View, Stanaford, and Coal City. This includes the following highways... West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 33 and 50. Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 120 and 137. Route 19 between mile markers 1 and 4. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
