Flood Warning issued June 23 at 7:17AM EDT until June 23 at 10:15AM EDT by NWS Charleston WV * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southwestern Logan County in southern West Virginia... West Central Mingo County in southern West Virginia... * WHEN...Until 1015 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 717 AM EDT, Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 3 and 5.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Logan, Man, Delbarton, Holden, Mount Gay-Shamrock, Chattaroy, Mallory, Amherstdale-Robinette, Switzer, Chauncey, Sarah Ann, Myrtle, Lenore and Naugatuck. - This includes Route 119 between mile markers 1 and 25. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
