At 17.0 feet, Water reaches the bottom of the railroad trestle approach. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 13.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 19.5 feet early Wednesday afternoon. - Flood stage is 10.5 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 19.9 feet on 06/21/1954. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
