Beach Hazards Statement issued September 12 at 10:48PM EDT until September 13 at 11:00PM EDT by NWS Grand Rapids MI * WHAT...High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous swimming conditions expected. Piers may be heavily swamped by waves. * WHERE...Mason and Oceana counties. * WHEN...From Sunday morning through Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves can sweep people off piers. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Northwest winds will increase on Sunday which will build waves to 3 to 5 feet during the afternoon. Dangerous waves and currents are expected for swimmers. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions and do not venture out on piers. Please check with your local authorities on potential beach closures.
