Northern Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey... Passaic County in northeastern New Jersey... South Central Orange County in southeastern New York... Rockland County in southeastern New York... * Until 545 AM EDT. * At 244 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 1.5 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Wayne, New City, West Milford, Ridgewood, Monsey, Nanuet, Ramsey, Ringwood, Pompton Lakes, Suffern, Nyack, Warwick, Tappan, Sloatsburg, Hawthorne, Pearl River, Bloomingdale, Orangeburg, Greenwood Lake and Upper Nyack. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Flood Watch issued June 22 at 10:52PM EDT until June 23 at 6:00AM EDT by NWS Upton NY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, including the following areas, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern Union, Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex, Western Passaic and Western Union and southeast New York, including the following areas, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Northern Queens, Richmond (Staten Island) and Southern Queens. * WHEN...Until 6 AM EDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Scattered heavy downpours and thunderstorms will produce rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour into the overnight. This will present a threat for scattered instances of urban, poor drainage, and quick responding small river and stream flash flooding, particularly over areas that saw heavy rain this afternoon.
