Flash Flood Warning issued September 13 at 11:41AM EDT until September 13 at 1:45PM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA At 1141 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Providence, Fall River, Warwick, Cranston, East Providence, Coventry, Dartmouth, North Providence, South Kingstown, West Warwick, Johnston, North Kingstown, Newport, Bristol, Somerset, Portsmouth, Barrington, Middletown, Narragansett and Swansea. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Flood Watch issued September 13 at 1:57AM EDT until September 13 at 6:00PM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts. * WHEN...From 5 AM EDT early this morning through this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and a few embedded thunderstorms with localized narrow bands of torrential rainfall overspread the region this morning. Widespread rainfall amounts of 0.50 to 2 inches are expected. However...localized narrow bands of 2-4" of rain are possible within a 3 hour period. While it remains uncertain if these narrow bands of heavier rain occur...the potential exists for localized flash flooding...especially if it were to occur over a vulnerable urban center. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
