yellow warning - severe thunderstorm - in effect At 3:33 a.m. NDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Locations: Bay St. George. Total rainfall: 5 to 10 mm, except possibly more than 25 mm in thunderstorms. Maximum wind gusts: near 70 km/h in thunderstorms. Time span: overnight tonight. Remarks: An area of severe thunderstorms over the Gulf of St. Lawrence is moving eastward over western Newfoundland. Satellite and radar imagery indicate a narrow band of torrential rainfall is expected. Strong winds have also been detected in association with these thunderstorms. ### Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.
