Flood Watch issued July 12 at 2:39PM EDT until July 13 at 2:00AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall will be possible. * WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, south central, and southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in east central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery, Powell and Rowan. In northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin. In south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Wolfe. * WHEN...Until 2 AM EDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms producing locally heavy rainfall are expected through the this evening. Already wet soils in some areas will make these locations more susceptible to flooding. Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Flood Advisory issued July 12 at 4:13PM EDT until July 12 at 6:15PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, Floyd and Pike. * WHEN...Until 615 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 411 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to slow-moving showers and thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen across the hardest hit areas. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. Excessive runoff will cause minor flooding of small creeks and streams, roads, and roadside culverts. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Prestonsburg, Coal Run Village, Martin, Allen, Meta, Zebulon, Kimper, Gulnare, Mcandrews, Betsy Layne, Justell, Ivel, Dana, Banner, Alvin, Emma, Coleman, Allen City, Dwale and Arkansas. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
