Pearl River Near Bogalusa affecting Pearl River and Washington Counties. Pearl River Near Pearl River affecting Pearl River, St. Tammany and Hancock Counties. For the Lower Pearl River...including Bogalusa, Pearl River...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Pearl River near Bogalusa. * WHEN...Until Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Woodlands and crop acreage along the river will be flooded. The Bogue Chitto Wildlife Management area will be inundated with water in recreational camps and over access roads. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:15 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 20.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 12:15 PM CDT Tuesday was 20.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is near its crest of of 20.4 feet. It will fall below flood stage Saturday afternoon. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 20.4 feet on 04/08/1976. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. For the second Heat Advisory, from 10 AM to 6 PM CDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
