High Wind Warning issued September 24 at 1:46PM EDT until September 27 at 2:00AM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA * WHAT...Northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts 45 to 60 mph expected. * WHERE...The eastern Massachusetts coast as well as the south coasts of both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. * WHEN...From 8 AM Friday to 2 AM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The long duration of the winds coupled with heavy rain and fully leafed trees may exacerbate the risk for tree damage and power outages. People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.

For the Coastal Flood Watch, up to one foot of inundation above ground level possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (3.8 to 12.8 feet Mean Lower Low Water). * WHERE...Eastern Essex MA, Suffolk MA, Eastern Norfolk MA, Eastern Plymouth MA, Barnstable MA, Dukes MA and Nantucket MA Counties. * WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, from 5 AM Friday to 8 PM EDT Sunday. For the Coastal Flood Watch, from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...Strong northeast winds with large waves will result in minor to perhaps pockets of moderate coastal flooding over multiple high tide cycles from late Friday through the weekend. The greatest risk for coastal flooding appears to be setting up south of Boston and onto the Cape and Islands. In addition...the long duration of northeast winds coupled with large waves over multiple high tide cycles will result in areas of beach erosion. If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
