Heat Advisory issued June 30 at 11:20AM EDT until July 1 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Gaylord MI * WHAT...Heat index values up to 105 expected. * WHERE...Alcona, Alpena, Arenac, Cheboygan, Gladwin, Iosco, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, and Presque Isle Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heat index values may locally exceed 105 degrees this afternoon. Although mid-week temperatures are dependent on thunderstorm development, prolonged high humidity and limited overnight cooling will lead to compounding heat stress throughout the week. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
