Heat Advisory issued June 29 at 2:07AM CDT until June 29 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Aberdeen SD * WHAT...For the Dense Fog Advisory, visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog. For the Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 102 expected. * WHERE...Codington, Deuel, Grant, Hamlin, and Roberts Counties. * WHEN...For the Dense Fog Advisory, until 9 AM CDT this morning. For the Heat Advisory, from noon today to 8 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
