Sarasota County in west central Florida... * WHEN...Until 800 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 605 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Up to 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Sarasota, Bradenton, Palmetto, Ellenton, West Samoset, Parrish, Lakewood Ranch, Memphis, South Bradenton, The Meadows, Sarasota Bradenton Airport, North Sarasota, Kensington Park, West Bradenton, Samoset, Oneco, Lake Manatee State Park, Desoto Lakes, Bayshore Gardens and Cortez. - https://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Marine Weather Statement issued September 19 at 6:28PM EDT by NWS Tampa Bay Ruskin FL A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas... Coastal waters from Englewood to Tarpon Springs FL out 20 NM... Tampa Bay waters... At 628 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located over Longboat Key, moving west at 10 knots. Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.
