Chandeleur Sound... Coastal waters from Pascagoula Mississippi to Stake Island Louisiana out 20 to 60 NM... Coastal waters from Pascagoula Mississippi to Stake Island out 20 NM... Mississippi Sound... * Until 445 PM CDT. * At 308 PM CDT, a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts was located along a line extending from 7 nm southwest of Cat Island to 10 nm south of Ship Island to 33 nm southeast of Chandeleur Sound, moving northeast at 25 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include... Cat Island, Biloxi, Mississippi Sound, Pascagoula, Long Beach, Horn Island, Pass Christian, Ship Island, Gulf Park Estates, Ocean Springs, Bay St. Louis, and Gulfport. Strong winds will be dangerous for boaters or anyone near the water. Make sure all on board are wearing life jackets. Seek shelter or move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes. Report severe weather to the Coast Guard or the National Weather Service.

Special Weather Statement issued July 12 at 3:52PM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA At 352 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts over marine areas along a line extending from near Long Beach to 8 miles south of St. Martin to near Petit Bois Island. Movement was northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Waterspouts and winds in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous waters. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Gulfport, Biloxi, Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, Long Beach, Moss Point, Pass Christian, St. Martin, Escatawpa, Gautier, D'iberville, Latimer, Lyman, Gulf Hills, Gulf Park Estates, Hickory Hills, Vancleave, and Gulfport Airport. This includes the following Interstates... Interstate 10 in Mississippi between mile markers 27 and 70. Interstate 110 in Mississippi between mile markers 1 and 4. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office in New Orleans. If on or near marine areas, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
