Des Plaines River near Gurnee affecting Lake IL County. Des Plaines River near Russell affecting Lake IL County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Des Plaines River from IL/WI state line downstream to US-41 in Gurnee, including the Russell gauge. * WHEN...Until Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 9.5 feet, Residential structures threatened along Russell Road between the river and Kilbourne Road. Industrial parking lots threatened along Kilbourne Road. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 9.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage Tuesday morning and continue falling to 6.8 feet Wednesday, September 30. - Flood stage is 7.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Warning means water levels above flood stage are imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along rivers and streams in the warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. Stay out of the water and away from dangerous areas like piers and breakwalls. Strong structural and longshore currents are expected. Rip currents are possible.
