Flood Watch issued September 23 at 2:00AM MDT until September 24 at 6:00AM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of east central New Mexico, including the following counties, Curry County and Roosevelt County. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A dangerous surge of monsoon moisture will continue to stream across the forecast area Wednesday and Wednesday night, and probably also Thursday and Thursday night east of the continental divide. Scattered occurrences of Flash flooding will probably occur again Wednesday and Wednesday night, and some main stem river and tributary flooding will become increasingly likely. Stronger storms will be capable of producing rain at rates around 1 to 2 inches per hour, with additional rain amounts in many locations along and east of the continental divide reaching 1 to 3 inches, with locally higher amounts potentially over 4 inches. - Rapid runoff and flash flooding will be most likely in complex terrain, below recent burn scars, low-lying areas, urban areas, normally dry arroyos, near rivers and streams, and in locations where the ground is already saturated from recent heavy rainfall. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
