Red Flag Warning issued July 16 at 8:50PM PDT until July 17 at 11:00AM PDT by NWS Spokane WA ...ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS MUCH OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST THURSDAY NIGHT... ...GUSTY SOUTHERLY WINDS OKANOGAN, METHOW VALLEYS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING... ...GUSTY SOUTHERLY WINDS WATERVILLE PLATEAU FRIDAY AFTERNOON SHIFTING TO WESTERLY IN THE EVENING... .Additional showers and storms will redevelop tonight for much of the Inland Northwest. Gusty outflow winds around 30 mph will be possible with this activity. Rainfall amounts up to a tenth of an inch are possible, with locally higher amounts where multiple storms move over the same area. Dry and breezy conditions will develop in portions of central Washington Friday afternoon. A sharp wind shift from south to west will impact the Waterville Plateau Friday evening. * Affected Area: Northern and Central Idaho Panhandle (Zone 101) and Selkirk Mountains of Northeast Washington (Zone 700). * Thunderstorms: Scattered thunderstorms possible overnight into Friday morning. Rainfall amounts up to a tenth of an inch possible, with locally higher amounts where multiple storms move over the same area. * Outflow Winds: Gusty and erratic thunderstorm outflow winds up to 30 mph will be possible through Friday morning. * Impacts: New fire starts from lightning. New and existing fires could be impacted by gusty outflow winds. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

For the latest air quality readings, head to https://fire.airnow.gov or visit the Idaho Smoke Blog at www.idsmoke.blogspot.com. * WHERE...Boundary County. * WHEN...Until 1200 PM PDT Sunday, July 19th. * IMPACTS...Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. Those who experience health effects from smoke include children under 18, elders, pregnant women, people with asthma or have difficulty breathing, diabetes, heart problems or otherwise compromised health, and people who have high exposure (those who work, exercise, or spend extensive time outdoors). Air pollutants can cause breathing difficulties for children, the elderly, as well as persons with respiratory problems. Those individuals who are sensitive to increased particulate matter or smoke are encouraged to avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor activity during this advisory. Open burning is currently prohibited by air quality rules. It is also recommended that all other individuals limit prolonged or strenuous activity outdoors.
