The strongest winds are expected on Oahu, especially over and downwind of terrain. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Winds this strong can tear off shingles, knock down tree branches, blow away tents and awnings and make it difficult to steer, especially for drivers of high profile vehicles. Watch out for falling tree branches when walking or driving. Make sure tents and awnings are secure or take them down. Be prepared for power outages.

High Surf Advisory issued September 26 at 4:18AM HST until September 27 at 6:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF KAUAI AND OAHU THROUGH SUNDAY... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR EAST AND SOUTHEAST FACING SHORES OF MOLOKAI MAUI AND THE BIG ISLAND THROUGH SUNDAY... .Hurricane Nolo is generating a moderate swell that is producing advisory level surf along east and southeast facing shores of the Big Island, Maui, and Molokai that will maintain tonight and then diminish on Sunday as Nolo moves westward away from the islands. Strengthening trades also cause building surf which peaks tonight for east facing shorelines and begins to diminish on Sunday. * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 9 to 12 ft today, becoming 10 to 14 ft tonight. * WHERE...East facing shores of Kauai and Oahu. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Moderate to high. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous. Waves breaking in channel entrances may make navigating the channels dangerous. Heed all advice from ocean safety officials. When in doubt, don't go out.
