Flash Flood Warning issued July 16 at 3:14PM CDT until July 16 at 6:00PM CDT by NWS Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO At 314 PM CDT, the public reported flash flooding across the warned area. Several reports of street flooding have been received from the Blue Springs area. Thunderstorms are weakening in the warning area, but flooding is still expected as runoff continues. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Public reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Independence, Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Sugar Creek, Buckner, Lake Lotawana, Courtney, Lone Jack, Lake Tapawingo, Sibley, River Bend and Tarsney Lakes. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
