Flood Watch issued July 23 at 2:22AM EDT until July 24 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of eastern North Carolina, including the following areas, Coastal Onslow, Duplin, East Carteret, Hatteras Island, Inland Onslow, Jones, Lenoir, Northern Craven, Ocracoke Island, Pamlico, Southern Craven and West Carteret. * WHEN...From 8 AM EDT this morning through Friday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A slow moving cold front will approach and then stall over eastern North Carolina this morning and lingering through tomorrow. Rounds of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms could bring rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches. HAZARD...Landspouts and wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Lowland, Maribel, Vandemere, and Mesic. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
