Flood Watch issued September 15 at 10:56PM MST until September 17 at 5:00AM MST by NWS Flagstaff AZ * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of east central, north central, northeast, and west central Arizona, including the following areas, in east central Arizona, Northern Gila County. In north central Arizona, Black Mesa Area, Coconino Plateau, Eastern Mogollon Rim, Grand Canyon Country, Kaibab Plateau, Little Colorado River Valley in Coconino County, Marble and Glen Canyons, Northeast Plateaus and Mesas Hwy 264 Northward, Northeast Plateaus and Mesas South of Hwy 264 and Western Mogollon Rim. In northeast Arizona, Chinle Valley, Chuska Mountains and Defiance Plateau, Little Colorado River Valley in Apache County, Little Colorado River Valley in Navajo County and White Mountains. In west central Arizona, Oak Creek and Sycamore Canyons, Yavapai County Mountains and Yavapai County Valleys and Basins. * WHEN...Through late Wednesday night. * IMPACTS...Flash flooding will be possible in creeks, normally dry washes, swimming holes, and over recently burned areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Increasing moisture will combine with a shortwave feature moving north across Arizona to bring multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms from late Tuesday night through Wednesday night. Thunderstorms will have the potential to produce heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding, especially in areas that receive repeated rounds of rainfall. - Additional information is available at weather.gov/flagstaff. Navajo County in north central Arizona... * WHEN...Until 500 PM MST /600 PM MDT/. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in creeks and normally dry washes is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 102 PM MST /202 PM MDT/, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Jacks Canyon, Little Colorado River, Cottonwood Wash, Tucker Flat Wash, Clear Creek and Coyote Wash. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Winslow, Winslow-Lindbergh Regional Airport, Homolovi Ruins State Park, Bushman Acres, Clear Creek Reservoir, West Winslow, Coopertown Park, Standin' on the Corner Park, Winslow City Park, Sacred Heart Park and Northland Pioneer College. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between mile markers 245 and 257. Business Interstate 40 between mile markers 252 and 257. State Route 99 between mile markers 39 and 53. State Route 87 between mile markers 339 and 342. This includes the following recreation areas andcampgrounds... Homolovi State Park Campground, Standin on the Corner Park, Sacred Heart Park and Winslow City Park. - Additional information is available at weather.gov/flagstaff. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Low water crossings will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
