High Wind Warning issued September 26 at 5:04PM HST until September 27 at 6:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI * WHAT...East winds 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 75 mph. * WHERE...Portions of Maui, Big Island, Molokai, and Lanai over and downwind of terrain, especially in west Maui and Kohala. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines and damage roofs. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Strong winds may lead to property damage. Hazardous driving conditions due to powerful cross winds will pose a serious risk for drivers, especially for light weight and high profile vehicles. Loose outdoor items should be brought inside or secured properly. A High Wind Warning means that winds are expected to be at least 40 mph, with gusts over 60 mph. Stay away from downed power lines.

High Surf Advisory issued September 26 at 1:03PM HST until September 27 at 6:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI ...HIGH SURF WARNING IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHEAST FACING SHORES OF THE BIG ISLAND THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF KAUAI, OAHU, MOLOKAI, MAUI, AND THE BIG ISLAND THROUGH SUNDAY... .Hurricane Nolo is generating swell that is producing warning level surf along southeast facing shores of the Big Island. This swell combined with strengthening trades is producing advisory level surf along east facing shores of the Big Island, Maui, Molokai, Oahu and Kauai that will maintain tonight and then begin to diminish on Sunday as Nolo moves westward away from the islands. * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 9 to 12 feet. * WHERE...East facing shores of Molokai, Maui, and Big Island. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous. Heed all advice from ocean safety officials. When in doubt, don't go out.
