Paint Rock River NEAR Woodville affecting Marshall, Jackson and Madison Counties. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast through Tuesday afternoon. * WHERE...Paint Rock River near Woodville. * WHEN...Until Friday evening. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Portions of Alabama State Highway 65 are closed due to high water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:00 PM CDT Monday the stage was 19.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 2:00 PM CDT Monday was 19.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is cresting and is expected to gradually fall below Moderate Flood stage early Tuesday evening. The river is expected to fall below Minor Flood Stage Friday afternoon and continue falling to 13.6 feet early Saturday afternoon. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, or drive through such swift water. Southeastern Madison County in north central Alabama... Southwestern Jackson County in northeastern Alabama... Northeastern Marshall County in northeastern Alabama... * Until 945 PM CDT. * At 633 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Southern Huntsville, Scottsboro, Owens Cross Roads, Hollywood, Powell, Grant, Gurley, Section, Woodville, Pleasant Groves, Dutton, Langston, Paint Rock, Lim Rock, Larkinsville, Trenton, Garth and Hampton Cove. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
