Rip Current Statement issued June 18 at 10:46AM EDT until June 18 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Coastal Brunswick County. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

Special Weather Statement issued June 18 at 1:22AM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC The combination of extremely dry fuels and gusty southwest winds will lead to increased fire danger today. Dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly due to the breezy conditions. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn. If you do, you are advised to use extreme caution.
