Flood Watch issued June 15 at 10:09AM CDT until June 18 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Brownsville TX * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of Deep South Texas, including the following areas, Brooks, Cameron Island, Coastal Cameron, Coastal Kenedy, Coastal Willacy, Inland Cameron, Inland Kenedy, Inland Willacy, Jim Hogg, Kenedy Island, Northern Hidalgo, Southern Hidalgo, Starr, Willacy Island and Zapata. * WHEN...Through Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Widespread heavy rainfall will likely produce totals between 5 to 10 inches, with pockets of 12 inches or more possible. Flood Advisory issued June 15 at 4:44PM CDT until June 15 at 7:45PM CDT by NWS Brownsville TX * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Zapata County in deep south Texas... * WHEN...Until 745 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 443 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Zapata, Bustamante, San Ygnacio, Medina, Zapata County Airport, Las Palmas, Zapata High School, Zapata Middle School, Zapata County Fire Department, Zapata County Public Library, Falcon Shores, Falcon Lake Estates, Falcon Mesa, Siesta Shores, Morales-Sanchez, Romeo T. Flores Park, Zapata --Medina and Black Bass. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
