Cedar River at Charles City affecting Floyd County. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Cedar River at Charles City. * WHEN...Until Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 21.5 feet, Clark Street at Brantingham Street begins to flood. The Gilbert Street lift station wet well requires sandbagging. Fire Department, City Shed, and Park Department are all evacuated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:30 AM CDT Monday the stage was 21.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:30 AM CDT Monday was 21.6 feet. - Forecast...The river has crested this morning around 21.50 feet. It is forecast to fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 12.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 21.4 feet on 08/16/1993. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
