Flash Flood Warning issued September 15 at 5:36AM CDT until September 15 at 9:00AM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA At 536 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 4 inches of rain have fallen since Monday evening. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Atlantic, Stuart, Earlham, Anita, Exira, Redfield, Adair, Dexter, Casey, Diamondhead Lake, Menlo, Linden, Brayton, Marne, Wiota, Anita Municipal Airport, Lake Anita State Park and Atlantic Municipal Airport. This includes Interstate 80 between mile markers 100 and 106...and between mile markers 50 and 99. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
