Flash Flood Warning issued September 24 at 7:01AM MDT until September 24 at 8:15AM MDT by NWS Midland/Odessa TX At 701 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding due to runoff may continue. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Carlsbad, Loving, Carlsbad North, Avalon, Brantley Lake State Park, Malaga, Seven Rivers Airport, Lake Avalon, Living Desert State Park, Otis, Cavern City Air Terminal, Lakewood, Dayton, Lea County Zip Franklin Memorial Airport, Loco Hills and Atoka. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.

Flood Watch issued September 24 at 2:17AM MDT until September 25 at 6:00AM MDT by NWS Midland/Odessa TX * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southeast New Mexico, including the following areas, Central Lea, Eddy County Plains, Guadalupe Mountains of Eddy County and Northern Lea and southwest Texas, including the following areas, Chinati Mountains, Davis Mountains, Davis Mountains Foothills, Eastern Culberson, Guadalupe Mountains Above 7000 Feet, Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains, Marfa Plateau, Presidio Valley and Van Horn and Highway 54 Corridor. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop and spread over the Watch area today through early Friday morning.
